We have received a major fundraising boost after being officially announced as the charity of the year for leading local solicitors’ firm, Hodge Halsall.
During 2019, the Hodge Halsall team will dedicate a series of events to help raise vital funds for Queenscourt, further cementing the longstanding relationship between the hospice and the legal firm.
For the past 5 years, Hodge Halsall has supported our Make a Will Month, providing a free Will drafting service in exchange for donations to the charity. The firm also used the hospice’s Boxtree Kitchen cafe to host a special event recently for its 'Spread the Joy' initiative, aimed at reducing social isolation amongst older people in Southport, which raised over £700.
In all, Hodge Halsall is hoping to raise over £5000 for Queenscourt Hospice during 2019 through fundraising events and sponsorship. The firm has already signed up as an official sponsor of this year’s Star Trekk event, a 10k night walk that has raised a total of £750,000 for the Queenscourt since it launched 13 years ago.
Commenting on Hodge Halsall’s fundraising pledge, Debbie Lawson, our Corporate Services Director said, “We are enormously grateful to receive this support from Hodge Halsall, a firm that has always gone out of its way to help the Queenscourt Hospice cause. Fundraising commitments like this, from the local business community, are a vital source of income for our charity and we hope that others will be encouraged to follow the excellent example that the Hodge Halsall team is setting by choosing Queenscourt Hospice as their charity of the year. The money raised by Hodge Halsall will go towards helping us care for patients with far advanced, progressive and incurable illnesses, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life at each new stage. It costs over £400 an hour, 365 days a year to keep Queenscourt running and we rely heavily on donations and community support to do so.”
Mark Robinson, Managing Partner for Hodge Halsall added, “Queenscourt Hospice is a charity that is very close to our hearts. The hospice is a central part of the local community and many of our staff have a personal connection with it. By dedicating our charity of the year efforts to raising as much money as possible for Queenscourt, we hope to help the hospice deliver its essential services to the local community for many years to come.”
