We are working closely with the current manager to agree the sale of Boxtree Kitchen, ensuring the café can continue to serve the local community.
Boxtree Kitchen, which is based in Churchtown, has been part of Queenscourt Hospice’s retail portfolio since 2015. However, we have taken the difficult decision to sell the café, to help secure the hospice’s future financial stability and ensure that resources are channelled into the continued provision of supportive and specialist palliative care to the people of Formby, Southport and West Lancashire. Our management team are working closely with Boxtree manager Yvonne Hodge to agree a sale on favourable terms, ensuring it can stay open and run as an independent local business.
Debra Lawson, Director of Corporate Services at Queenscourt Hospice said, “We are committed to doing all we possibly can to help secure a future for Boxtree Kitchen and are delighted to be selling the business to Yvonne, who we know will work hard to make it a great success. Although, it was no longer sustainable for us to continue operating Boxtree Kitchen as part of the Queenscourt Hospice portfolio, we recognise the potential that Boxtree Kitchen has to become a thriving independent venture and we wanted to help protect its status, both as a local employer and a valued amenity for the community. The café is an important part of the community and we will continue to nurture a close, informal relationship with the Boxtree team in the future.”
Yvonne Hodge, Boxtree Kitchen Manager added, “This is the start of an exciting new era for Boxtree. I look forward to building on the foundations that Queenscourt Hospice has put in place and growing a business in the heart of the local community that will help to bring people together and provide outstanding food, beverages and service at an affordable price.”
