Oliver McGowan Mandatory training - Queenscourt Hospice

Oliver McGowan Mandatory training

on Learning Disability and Autism – Tier 2 (Face-to-Face)

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism provides essential knowledge and practical understanding to support people with a learning disability and autistic people in health and social care settings

This training is the standardised, national programme developed in response to the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism Code of Practice (2022), following the tragic death of Oliver McGowan. It aims to ensure that all staff have the skills, confidence, and awareness to provide equitable, person-centred care

Oliver’s story highlights the devastating consequences when people with a learning disability or autism do not receive appropriate care. This training helps ensure that all staff have the awareness, skills, and confidence to deliver safe, compassionate, and person-centred care

Our Tier 2 face-to-face training is co-delivered by:

  • The subject matter experts, who provide expertise in autism and have been part of Oliver’s training since 2020
  • Experts with lived experience (autism, learning disability)

who will utilise case studies, videos, group discussion, and reflective learning
