HEA4197 Transforming Integrated Palliative & End of Life Care

20 credit interactive, clinically based module is aimed at frontline clinicians, of all professions, providing core or specialist level palliative care. It will be of particular interest to District Nurses and General Practitioners, hospital ward nurses and trainee/SASS doctors, hospice nurses and doctors, allied health professionals whose work encompasses interaction with those approaching the end of life.

The module includes:
• a review of the development of, and current drivers for, palliative and end of life care
• building blocks of symptom assessment and management
• integrated care and co-ordination
• current and future care planning
• communication skills
• ethics related to living the last months of life
• spiritual assessment and care
• grief and bereavement care

The module has been designed by Queenscourt Hospice in partnership with Edge Hill University. The programme will be delivered in a blended fashion online and at Queenscourt.
