Thank you to our Christmas Tree Collection Volunteers

It’s a wrap!

Our Christmas Tree Collection & Recycling Service is done and dusted for another year and wow what a collection! Our amazing team of superstar volunteers have collected over 1,600 registered Christmas Trees, all of which will be used in an environmentally friendly way. Some have already been used on a local farm to create natural fencing to help keep cattle in their field and support the natural habitat, some will be chipped for a local golf course and some will be chipped for bio-fuel.

This year our Christmas Tree Collection was sponsored by Ocean Plaza and we wanted to say a big thank you to Ocean Plaza for their fantastic support, it was great to have them on board and work with their brilliant team.

On the Saturday and Sunday we had a fabulous team volunteering their time and equipment from EA Formby, chipping on site at Tesco Extra Southport and on Saturday we had Paul Crabtree chipping at St. Johns Church, Ainsdale. Thank you to EA Formby and Paul Crabtree for volunteering your time and supporting our tree collection once again, we really do value your support, hard work and professionalism.

Thank you also goes out to Tesco Extra Southport, St. Johns Church Ainsdale, Hesketh Golf Club, Heaton’s Bridge, EA Formby and Paul Crabtree for allowing us to use their sites as our drop off points. Each of these sites has supported our tree collection for many years, providing flexibility for our tree collectors whilst out on their routes.

Our Christmas Tree Collection marketing campaign starts in early November when our fantastic volunteers, Brian and Elaine deliver our literature to over 30 different businesses over a two-week period. Thank you to all the local Christmas Tree sellers, garden centres and businesses across Southport, Formby & West Lancashire that were happy to display our tree posters and hand out our leaflets once again.

This year we also had a strong support from our local schools, thank you to Meols Cop High School and Tarleton Academy for letting us display our large outdoor banners at the front of your schools and to all the other schools that so kindly added our Christmas Tree leaflet to your school e-newsletters.

Sandgrounder Radio did an awesome job with our radio ad and Rydal Self Drive Van Hire looked after us when we needed a few extra vans over the weekend.

It’s important during the busy collection weekend to keep our volunteers strength up and with thanks to Hickory’s Southport our volunteers were invited for a free breakfast and hot drink each morning before they started their collections. Thanks to Adele at Tesco Extra Southport providing the snacks, Sharon at ASDA Southport and Anna at Morrisons Southport for donating various sweets and to Radnor Hills for supplying some fantastic drinks to keep our volunteers refreshed.

And now to our superstar volunteers that dedicated their time and their vehicles over the collection weekend, they are all simply amazing and we can’t thank them enough.

Our heartfelt thanks go to our van crews: Judith & Phil, Alistair & Ann, Team Neil, Linda & Pete, Scott and Andy, Grant and John, Team Martin, Team Rick, Stephen & Cath, Alan & Tom, John & Lois, Team Greg, Angela & Dave, Karen & Debbie, Adam & Jane from Adam’s House Clearances, Neil & Emma, Team Liam from Reach Easy Concrete Pumping, Pennie & Kim, Bryan & Pat, and Team Steve and the Fire Cadets. And to our chipping site volunteers that helped us keep our chipping sites well managed throughout the collection weekend: Kathleen & Sean, John & Ron, Andrew, and Tom. The chipping sites were all well managed with thanks to you.
