You will work with the catering team who are responsible for providing a quality food service to patients, staff, volunteers and visitors. You will play a key role in the team as you will ensure the smooth running of the department by assisting with the general cleaning and tidying of the kitchen, washing crockery by using a commercial dishwasher, washing pans, cleaning food trolleys, machines, catering equipment, furniture, fittings and surfaces as required. Days & times needed Mon- Sun 9am – 6:30pm volunteers approx. do between 2-4hrs a week subject to their availability.
Housekeeping & Laundry Helper
Our Laundry and Housekeeping Service is vital to the continued success of the Hospice and plays a huge part in the care we provide our patients, their families and carers. Volunteers are asked to support the staff by helping with the washing, drying, ironing and putting away of laundry produced in Queenscourt and helping the housekeeping team keep Queenscourt clean and tidy. Days & times needed Mon – Sun 10am-12pm & 4pm-6pm.
Refresco Café Assistants
To work in the Refresco Cafe, serving drinks and light refreshments, preparing sandwiches, helping to keep the cafe clean and tidy, collecting and washing the dishes. To keep to the Hygiene Standards and Regulations set for the catering areas. Days & times needed Mon - Sunday 10am-1pm Tues, Thurs & Fri 12:30pm – 4pm.
To help with Queenscourt Services’ gardening and grounds care as part of a team of Volunteers. The role would include supporting the other Gardening Support Volunteers in your joint delivery of the this role, general gardening tasks (e.g. planting, weeding, cutting back, potting, cuttings etc.), maintaining tidy garden areas and disposing of waste appropriately, overseeing set or shared areas as agreed with other Gardening Support Volunteers. Days & times needed Wed 10am – 2pm (depending on the weather).
Day Hospice Drivers
Do you enjoy driving? Would you like to support patients directly? We are looking to increase our pool of Day Hospice Drivers. You would assist by regularly bringing in patients to Day Therapy (for a 9:30am start) and taking them home around 4pm. If you are friendly, aged over 25 and with a clean driving license and access to your own vehicle, this role could be right for you. Days & times needed Mon - Fri generally 9:30am start and 4pm finish. There can be variations on this.
This role will include collecting and/or returning home patients for Day Therapy in our Queenscourt ambulance, as arranged by the Day Therapy staff, who will supervise the operation. You may also be asked to take ward patients for appointments or home, as arranged by the Ward Staff, who will supervise the operation. Full theory and practical training will be given. Days & Times needed Mon – Fri various times throughout the day.
Do you enjoy making people feel welcome? Are you well organised and someone who always likes to give service with a smile? If so, we would welcome your help on our busy Reception Desk. Our Volunteer Receptionists are the front-line of our greeting and telephone services. They provide a basic administration service and help to run a small shop. Some other tasks include greeting visitors to the Hospice. Handling and transferring telephone calls using a small switchboard. Accepting donations and promoting our Gift Aid Scheme operating a sales till for the Reception Shop. Days & Times needed Mon – Sun 9am-9pm shifts during the day are usually 4 hours long, evening shifts are usually 2 hours long.
Fundraising Collection Volunteers
Work with the Community Fundraiser and local venues, including supermarkets to increase donations and local awareness of Queenscourt Hospice. A key part of this role will be standing at entrances/exits to local venues or in public spaces with a collection bucket or tin and collecting money for Queenscourt Hospice. Dates and times can vary, however our Community Fundraiser will inform you of the opportunities as they arise. Find out more...
Fundraising Mascot Volunteers
Work with the Community Fundraiser to attend local fundraising events, cheque presentations and publicity opportunities to increase awareness of Queenscourt Hospice. You may be asked to travel to local fundraising events, cheque presentations and publicity opportunities to be our mascot, Queenie. Dates and times can vary, however our Community Fundraiser will inform you of the opportunities as they arise. Find out more...
Fundraising Events Volunteers
Work with the Community Fundraiser to attend local fundraising events to increase support and awareness of Queenscourt Hospice. This involves travelling to local fundraising events, including those hosted by our supporters to increase awareness of Queenscourt Hospice and to show support for those choosing to support Queenscourt Hospice. Tasks at each event will vary from carrying a collection bucket or tin, selling raffle tickets or merchandise, looking after a stall and handing out flyers and leaflets. You will be the ‘face’ of the Charity locally and will be able to raise awareness of the work Queenscourt Hospice carries out and how the public can support us as well as looking after our fundraising and information stands at local events. Fundraising Ambassador Volunteers
Work with the Community Fundraiser to attend cheque presentations on behalf of the Charity, to thank supporters and say a few words about how the money raised will help to make a difference. The role involves travelling to cheque presentations and fundraising events on behalf of Queenscourt Hospice. You will also deliver talks to local Community Groups, including faith groups, Rotary Clubs and Women’s Institute groups about the work of Queenscourt Hospice and the ways in which they can support us and help us achieve our goals. You may be asked to look after our fundraising and information stands at local events. You will be the ‘face’ of the Charity locally and will be able to raise awareness of the work Queenscourt Hospice carries out and how the public can support us. Find out more...
