Here at Queenscourt Hospice we rely heavily on people’s generosity and fundraising to be able to continue to provide our essential services to the local community.

There are many ways to support our work, such as organising your own fundraising events or visiting our charity shops or our online eBay store, but one of the simplest is to sign up for our weekly Lottery.

The Lottery scheme currently has thousands of members who play every week and one of those is Dionne Owen who recently scooped the top prize and was told of her success on her birthday.

“It was a lovely surprise and a great start to the day,” said Dionne, a mum-of-three who lives in Birkdale and used to work at Queenscourt. “I don’t play the lottery to win. I play it because it’s an easy way to support the hospice, that said, winning is certainly a bonus."

“We have just moved house and we need a new kitchen so the money will come in very useful. I’d certainly encourage everyone to sign up to the Lottery – it’s an affordable way to support the hospice and there’s the chance of winning a cash windfall.”

The Queenscourt Lottery was launched on April 8th, 1994 and has since raised more than £3 million for the hospice. It has a loyal following with many of its original members still playing today.

Lottery tickets cost just £1 each and you can buy as many as you like per week, for as many weeks as you like. You can also buy tickets to give as gifts - offering friends and family the chance to win some cash.

The draw takes place every Friday, 52 weeks of the year, when a computer randomly selects 22 lottery membership numbers. As well as the £1,500 top prize, there is a second prize of £100 as well as 20 additional prizes of £20.
Winners are notified by post and all winning numbers are put on our website www.queesncourt.org.uk; on our Facebook page and are printed in The Champion newspaper.

“The Lottery provides vital funding, enabling us to continue delivering quality care and compassion to patients and their families across our local communities,” said Judith Stewart, Fundraising and Lottery Manager. “The Lottery currently boasts 8,400 members, which is amazing, but we have set our sights on enlisting our 10,000th member during this 25th anniversary year. “We are delighted that Dionne has become won of our winners and hope her success will encourage others to give it a go.”

Anyone wishing to join the scheme can do so online via the Lottery page at www.queenscourt.org.uk. Application forms are also available from any Queenscourt Hospice shop or, if you want to pay by phone, you can call our Lottery team on 01704 562715. You must be 16-years-old or over to play.
