Welcome to our new look website, whilst we do not yet have facilities for online payment we are trying out online course ordering. Some of the glitches will not yet have been ironed out so please bear with us and let us know of any problems you encounter.

The Terence Burgess Education Centre opened in January 2001. Since then the centre has gone from strength to strength, opening its doors to hundreds of health care and allied professionals and others from across the country who wish to learn about palliative care

The education team aims and objectives are:

  • To provide a varied, interactive and exciting palliative care education programme
  • To enable those attending to increase their palliative care knowledge and skills to the benefit of all patients with advanced disease and families in their care
  • To facilitate learning by providing a high standard of teaching by all members of the multi-professional specialist palliative care services

The Terence Burgess Education Centre also provides an extensive in-service training programme for Queenscourt staff and volunteers and is now a fully accredited ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) centre.

Students with special needs are catered for, including disabled toilet facilities, a passenger lift and a hearing loop.

We are pleased to offer a specialist palliative care library. Although it is a reference only facility, anyone in the area is welcome to use the library which contains a variety of books, journals and videos relating to palliative care. Internet facilities are also available for use. If you would like to use the library please contact the education co-ordinator to arrange an induction visit.

The Centre is staffed by:

  • Dr Karen Groves: Consultant in Palliative Medicine
  • Cath Baldry: Director of Nursing & Education
  • Dionne Owen: Education Co-ordinator
  • Lorna Chamberlain: Education Co-ordinator
